CENPV

Description

The CENPV (centromere protein V) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.

CENP-V is crucial for the proper arrangement of pericentromeric heterochromatin within the nucleus during interphase. It also plays a vital role in the formation and organization of the centromere, a specialized region on chromosomes responsible for proper chromosome segregation during cell division. Additionally, CENP-V contributes to the alignment of chromosomes and the process of cytokinesis, which divides the cytoplasm and completes cell division.

CENPV is also known as 3110013H01Rik, CENP-V, PRR6, p30.
