CENPQ

Description

The CENPQ (centromere protein Q) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 6.

CENPQ plays a crucial role in the assembly of kinetochore proteins, ensuring accurate chromosome segregation during mitosis. It is part of the CENPA-CAD complex, which is responsible for incorporating newly synthesized CENPA into centromeres. CENPQ also contributes to chromosome congression and recruits other essential proteins like the CENP-O complex, CENPE, and PLK1 to the kinetochores.

CENPQ is also known as C6orf139, CENP-Q.
