CENPL

Description

The CENPL (centromere protein L) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

Centromere protein L is a protein in humans that is encoded by the CENPL gene. It is involved in the assembly of kinetochore proteins, mitotic progression, and chromosome segregation.

CENPL is a part of the CENPA-CAD complex, which attaches to centromeres. This complex plays a key role in assembling kinetochore proteins, ensuring proper cell division (mitosis), and distributing chromosomes accurately. CENPL might also help incorporate newly synthesized CENPA into centromeres by interacting with the CENPA-NAC complex.

CENPL is also known as C1orf155, CENP-L, dJ383J4.3.
