Description

The CDYL2 (chromodomain Y like 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 16.

CDYL2 is a protein found in humans that is encoded by the CDYL2 gene. It resides within the nucleus, where it acts as a chromatin reader, specifically recognizing the trimethylation of Histone H3 lysine 9. This interaction leads to repression of transcription, effectively silencing genes.

CDYL2 plays a role in regulating gene expression by recognizing and binding to trimethylated histone H3 lysine 9 (H3K9me3), a marker of silenced chromatin. This interaction represses transcription, effectively silencing genes.

CDYL2 is also known as PCCP1.
