The CDIPT (CDP-diacylglycerol--inositol 3-phosphatidyltransferase) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 16.
CDIPT is a human gene encoding CDP-diacylglycerol—inositol 3-phosphatidyltransferase, an enzyme involved in the synthesis of phosphatidylinositol. Phosphatidylinositol, a critical second messenger, is involved in various cellular functions including growth, calcium regulation, and protein kinase C activity. Two key enzymes, CDP-diacylglycerol synthase and phosphatidylinositol synthase, are responsible for phosphatidylinositol production. Phosphatidylinositol synthase, belonging to the CDP-alcohol phosphatidyl transferase class-I family, is an integral membrane protein located on the cytoplasmic side of the endoplasmic reticulum and the Golgi apparatus.
CDIPT is also known as PIS, PIS1.
