CDHR5

Description

The CDHR5 (cadherin related family member 5) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

CDHR5 acts as an intermicrovillar adhesion molecule, forming calcium-dependent complexes with CDHR2 on neighboring microvilli through its extracellular domain. This interaction regulates the organization of microvilli at the apical surface of epithelial cells. The cytoplasmic domain of CDHR5 interacts with other microvillus proteins to assemble the intermicrovillar adhesion complex (IMAC). This complex is crucial for the development and differentiation of microvilli and the epithelial brush border.

CDHR5 is also known as MLPCDH, MU-PCDH, MUCDHL, MUPCDH.
