CDHR2

Description

The CDHR2 (cadherin related family member 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 5.

CDHR2 is an intermicrovillar adhesion molecule that forms calcium-dependent complexes with CDHR5 on neighboring microvilli. This interaction controls the arrangement of microvilli at the apical surface of epithelial cells. CDHR2 also interacts with cytoplasmic proteins to form the intermicrovillar adhesion complex (IMAC), which is crucial for microvilli and epithelial brush border development. In addition, CDHR2 might contribute to cell-cell adhesion and contact inhibition in epithelial cells.

CDHR2 is also known as PCDH24, PCLCK, PCLKC.
