CDH26

Description

The CDH26 (cadherin 26) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 20.

Cadherins, including CDH26, are calcium-dependent cell adhesion proteins that primarily interact with themselves to connect cells. This homophilic interaction helps in sorting different cell types. CDH26 acts as a ligand for integrins alpha-E/beta-7, alpha-4/beta-7, and alpha-4/beta-1, which ultimately modulates the activation of CD4(+) T cells.

CDH26 is also known as VR20.
