CDCA2

Description

The CDCA2 (cell division cycle associated 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 8.

CDCA2 is essential for maintaining the compact structure of chromosomes during mitosis, particularly when condensin levels are low. It achieves this by recruiting the PP1-gamma subunit (PPP1CC) of protein phosphatase 1 to chromatin at the onset of anaphase. This recruitment allows PPP1CC to dephosphorylate substrates, contributing to the proper organization of chromosomes during anaphase and into the following interphase.

CDCA2 is also known as PPP1R81, Repo-Man.
