CCDC13

Description

The CCDC13 (coiled-coil domain containing 13) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 3.

CCDC13 is essential for the development of primary cilia, the small hair-like structures that extend from the surface of many cells. It helps to ensure that the BBS4 protein, which is involved in various cellular processes, is correctly positioned within the cell. BBS4 is found in both centriolar satellites (small structures near the centrosome, which is the cell's microtubule-organizing center) and cilia. CCDC13 plays a role in directing BBS4 to these locations.

CCDC13 is also known as -.
