Desmoglein-2 is a calcium-binding transmembrane glycoprotein found in specialized structures called desmosomes.

These desmosomes play a crucial role in cell-cell adhesion, especially in tissues exposed to mechanical stress.

Desmoglein-2 contributes to the strength and stability of tissues by linking adjacent cells together.
