LMF1

Description

The LMF1 (lipase maturation factor 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 16.

LMF1 plays a crucial role in the maturation and transport of proteins within the endoplasmic reticulum. Specifically, it is essential for the proper folding and secretion of lipoprotein lipase (LPL). Each LMF1 molecule acts as a chaperone, guiding and assisting the maturation of multiple LPL molecules (up to 50 or more).

LMF1 is also known as C16orf26, HMFN1876, JFP11, TMEM112, TMEM112A.
