MAX
Description
The MAX (MYC associated factor X) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 14.
MAX, or MAX, is a human gene. It is a transcription regulator that forms a DNA-binding complex with MYC or MAD, recognizing the sequence 5'-CAC[GA]TG-3'. The MYC:MAX complex activates transcription, while MAD:MAX represses it. MAX can also repress transcription by recruiting a chromatin remodeling complex with H3 'Lys-9' histone methyltransferase activity. It can suppress MYC's transcriptional activity from E-box elements.
