BRCA2 mutations are found in about 1 in 300 to 1 in 800 individuals. The BRCA2 gene, situated on chromosome 13q13.1, encodes a tumor suppressor protein crucial for DNA repair via homologous recombination. Mutations in BRCA2 significantly increase susceptibility to breast, ovarian, prostate, pancreatic, and other cancers.
