CADM3

Description

The CADM3 (cell adhesion molecule 3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

Cell adhesion molecule 3 is a protein encoded by the CADM3 gene in humans. It is related to the nectins, a family of calcium-independent cell-cell adhesion molecules. CADM3 is specifically found in the brain.

CADM3 plays a role in cell-cell adhesion. It exhibits both calcium-independent homophilic interactions with itself and heterophilic interactions with other proteins like IGSF4, NECTIN1, and NECTIN3. Its interaction with EPB41L1 might influence the structure and function of cell-cell junctions.

CADM3 is also known as BIgR, CMT2FF, IGSF4B, NECL1, Necl-1, TSLL1, synCAM3.
