CA11
Description
The CA11 (carbonic anhydrase 11) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 19.
Carbonic anhydrase-related protein 11 (CA11) is a protein encoded by the CA11 gene in humans. Carbonic anhydrases (CAs) are a diverse family of enzymes that catalyze the hydration of carbon dioxide, participating in various biological processes like respiration, acid-base balance, and fluid formation. While CA11 shares similarities with other CA isoforms, it lacks carbonic anhydrase activity due to alterations in its active site. It's primarily found in the brain and may play a role in the central nervous system. CA11 has been shown to interact with RIPK1.
CA11 is also known as CA-RP, CA-RP II, CA-XI, CARP-2, CARPX1.
