C1QTNF4

Description

The C1QTNF4 (C1q and TNF related 4) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

C1QTNF4 may play a role in regulating the inflammatory response, but its specific function as either pro- or anti-inflammatory seems to be influenced by the context. Evidence suggests that C1QTNF4 might be involved in the control of food intake and energy balance when introduced into the brain. This effect appears to persist for two days and is accompanied by a reduction in the expression of appetite-stimulating neuropeptides in the hypothalamus within three hours of injection.

C1QTNF4 is also known as CTRP4, ZACRP4.
