BPY2

Description

The BPY2 (basic charge Y-linked 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome Y.

BPY2 is a gene located on the Y chromosome and is expressed specifically in the testes. It encodes a protein that interacts with ubiquitin protein ligase E3A and may play a role in male germ cell development and male infertility. There are three nearly identical copies of this gene on the Y chromosome, with two copies within a palindromic region. The record here refers to the copy outside of this region.

BPY2 is also known as BPY2A, VCY2, VCY2A.
