BMS1

Description

The BMS1 (BMS1 ribosome biogenesis factor) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 10.

BMS1 is a key component of the small subunit (SSU) processome, which is the initial stage in the formation of the small eukaryotic ribosomal subunit. Within the nucleolus, BMS1 collaborates with various ribosome biogenesis factors, an RNA chaperone, and ribosomal proteins. These components work together to facilitate the proper folding, modification, and rearrangement of pre-ribosomal RNA. Additionally, BMS1 contributes to the controlled degradation of pre-ribosomal RNA by the RNA exosome.

BMS1 is also known as ACC, BMS1L.
