BAP1
Description
The BAP1 gene, located on chromosome 3, encodes a protein called BRCA1-associated protein 1. This protein acts as a tumor suppressor, playing a crucial role in maintaining genomic stability by removing ubiquitin tags from proteins involved in DNA repair and cell cycle regulation. BAP1‘s ability to deubiquitylate proteins ensures proper DNA damage response and prevents uncontrolled cell growth.
