AUNIP
Description
The AUNIP (aurora kinase A and ninein interacting protein) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.
AUNIP is a DNA-binding protein that accumulates at DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) following DNA damage. It promotes DNA resection and homologous recombination, and acts as a sensor of DNA damage by binding to structures generated at stalled replication forks. AUNIP anchors RBBP8/CtIP to DSB sites, facilitating DNA end resection and subsequent homologous recombination repair. It also inhibits non-homologous end joining (NHEJ). AUNIP plays a crucial role in the dynamic movement of AURKA at the centrosomes and spindle apparatus during the cell cycle.
