ARMC5 : armadillo repeat containing 5

Description

The ARMC5 (armadillo repeat containing 5) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 16.

The ARMC5 gene provides instructions for making a protein about which little is known. It is found mainly in the cytoplasm, and studies suggest that its function depends on interacting with other proteins. It is thought to act as a tumor suppressor, which means that it helps to prevent cells from growing and dividing too rapidly or in an uncontrolled way.

ARMC5 is involved in fetal development, T-cell function, and adrenal gland growth homeostasis. It negatively regulates adrenal cell survival, plays a role in steroidogenesis, and modulates the expression of steroidogenic enzymes and cortisol production.

ARMC5 is also known as AIMAH2.
