ARHGDIB

Description

The ARHGDIB (Rho GDP dissociation inhibitor beta) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.

ARHGDIB is a human protein encoded by the ARHGDIB gene. It is part of a family of three members: RhoGDI1, RhoGDI2 (also known as ARHGDIB), and RhoGDI3. While RhoGDI1 is expressed widely, ARHGDIB is highly expressed in various cell types, including blood-forming cells. ARHGDIB interacts with VAV1 and Src. It plays a role in suppressing metastasis but not tumor growth in bladder cancer cells, while RhoGDI1 is a general tumor suppressor. Despite similarities in sequence, ARHGDIB and RhoGDI1 differ in their binding affinities for GTPases and their roles in tumor formation and metastasis.

ARHGDIB regulates the GDP/GTP exchange reaction of Rho proteins by inhibiting the dissociation of GDP and subsequent GTP binding. It also regulates actin cytoskeleton reorganization mediated by Rho family members.

ARHGDIB is also known as D4, GDIA2, GDID4, LYGDI, Ly-GDI, RAP1GN1, RhoGDI2.
