ARHGAP5

Description

The ARHGAP5 (Rho GTPase activating protein 5) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 14.

ARHGAP5 encodes Rho GTPase-activating protein 5, an enzyme that regulates RHO GTPases, a family involved in cytoskeleton changes. It stimulates the hydrolysis of bound GTP, effectively negatively regulating these GTPases. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. ARHGAP5 has been shown to interact with Rnd1, Rnd2, Rnd3, and RHOA.

ARHGAP5 is also known as GFI2, RhoGAP5, p190-B, p190BRhoGAP.
