ARF4

Description

The ARF4 (ADP ribosylation factor 4) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 3.

ADP-ribosylation factor 4 (ARF4) is a protein encoded by the ARF4 gene in humans. It is a member of the ARF gene family, which encodes small guanine nucleotide-binding proteins that stimulate the ADP-ribosyltransferase activity of cholera toxin and are involved in vesicular trafficking and activation of phospholipase D. ARF proteins are classified into three classes: class I (ARF1 and ARF3), class II (ARF4 and ARF5), and class III (ARF6). The ARF4 gene is about 12kb long and contains six exons and five introns. ARF4 is the most divergent member of the human ARF family. Its location on the chromosome has been reported as either 3p14 or 3p21. ARF4 interacts with the Epidermal growth factor receptor and with RVxP motifs.

ARF4 is also known as ARF2.
