Description
The AP1AR (adaptor related protein complex 1 associated regulatory protein) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 4.
AP-1 complex-associated regulatory protein (Gamma1-adaptin brefeldin A resistance protein) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the AP1AR gene.
AP1AR is essential for the transport of molecules between the trans-Golgi network and endosomes, a process mediated by the adaptor protein complex 1 (AP-1). It controls the interaction of AP1G1, a component of AP-1, with cellular membranes, preventing the release of AP-1 from these membranes. This protein also regulates the movement of endosomes by linking them to kinesin, a motor protein that moves along microtubules. AP1AR potentially plays a role in the release of endo-lysosomes in response to calcium signaling. It can inhibit the Arp2/3 complex, a protein complex involved in cell movement and shape, ultimately impacting cell size, spreading, and motility.
