ANXA4

Description

The ANXA4 (annexin A4) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2.

Annexin A4 is a protein encoded by the ANXA4 gene in humans. It belongs to the annexin family of calcium-dependent phospholipid binding proteins. While their exact functions are still being researched, several annexin family members are thought to play roles in membrane-related events during exocytosis and endocytosis. ANX4 shares a similar structure and exon-intron organization with other annexins, exhibiting 45-59% identity. Isolated from human placenta, ANX4 encodes a protein that potentially interacts with ATP and shows in vitro anticoagulant activity, along with inhibition of phospholipase A2 activity. ANX4 is primarily expressed in epithelial cells.

ANXA4 is also known as ANX4, HEL-S-274, P32.5, PAP-II, PIG28, PP4-X, ZAP36.
