AKR7A3

Description

The AKR7A3 (aldo-keto reductase family 7 member A3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

Aldo-keto reductase family 7 member A3 is a protein encoded by the AKR7A3 gene. AKR7A3 is involved in detoxification of aldehydes and ketones.

AKR7A3 reduces the protein-binding form of aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) to a non-binding form, potentially protecting the liver from the toxic and carcinogenic effects of AFB1.

AKR7A3 is also known as AFAR2.
