AIG1

Description

The AIG1 (androgen induced 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 6.

Androgen-induced protein 1 is a protein encoded by the AIG1 gene in humans. The gene's location and details can be found on the UCSC Genome Browser.

AIG1 is an enzyme that breaks down bioactive fatty-acid esters of hydroxy-fatty acids (FAHFAs), but does not affect other major lipid classes. It shows a preference for FAHFAs with branching located further away from the carboxylate head group of the lipid.

AIG1 is also known as AIG-1, dJ95L4.1.
