AFF1

Description

The AFF1 (ALF transcription elongation factor 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 4.

AFF1, also known as ALL1-fused gene from chromosome 4 (AF4), is a gene that encodes a protein involved in RNA elongation. It is a member of the AF4/FMR2 family of nuclear transcriptional activators. AFF1 is a component of the super elongation complex (SEC), a multi-protein complex that promotes RNA polymerase II elongation. AFF1 is recognized as a proto-oncogene because chromosomal translocations associated with leukemia can fuse it with other genes, such as KMT2A, to produce an uncontrolled activator protein.

AFF1 is also known as AF4, FEL, MLLT2, PBM1.
