ACTR6

Description

The ACTR6 (actin related protein 6) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.

ACTR6 is necessary for the proper formation and function of the nucleolus. It plays a role in regulating ribosomal DNA (rDNA) transcription. When glucose levels are high, ACTR6 helps maintain active rDNA transcription by depositing H2A.Z. When glucose is scarce, ACTR6 is required to suppress rDNA transcription, a function that may not depend on H2A.Z.

ACTR6 is also known as ARP6, CDA12, HSPC281, MSTP136, hARP6, hARPX.
