The ACTL7A (actin like 7A) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 9.
ACTL7A, the gene encoding Actin-like protein 7A, is a member of the actin-related protein (ARP) family, sharing significant sequence similarity with conventional actins. ARPs are involved in various cellular processes, including vesicular transport, spindle orientation, nuclear migration, and chromatin remodeling. ACTL7A and its related gene, ACTL7B, are located close together on chromosome 9 and are intronless. While ACTL7A is expressed in numerous adult tissues, its exact function remains unclear. Research has ruled out ACTL7A as a likely contributor to the pathogenesis of dysautonomia.
ACTL7A might be crucial for the formation and fusion of Golgi-derived vesicles during acrosome biogenesis.
