ABRACL

Understanding Abraxane (Abraxane)

Description

Abraxane (chemical name: nab-paclitaxel) is a novel nanotechnology-based formulation of paclitaxel, a widely used chemotherapy agent. It consists of paclitaxel bound to human albumin nanoparticles, creating a unique drug delivery system. This formulation enhances the solubility and stability of paclitaxel, resulting in improved drug delivery and efficacy.

Associated Diseases

Abraxane is primarily used to treat advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and metastatic breast cancer. It has also shown promise in treating other solid tumors, including pancreatic, gastric, esophageal, and head and neck cancers.

Did you Know ?

A significant clinical trial conducted in 2005 demonstrated that Abraxane significantly improved the survival rates of patients with advanced NSCLC. The median overall survival in the Abraxane treatment group was 10.9 months compared to 8.8 months in the control group (paclitaxel alone).
