AADAT

The AADAT gene encodes a protein called Aminoadipate Aminotransferase (AADAT).

  1. Function:

    • AADAT is a transaminase with broad substrate specificity.
    • It has transaminase activity towards several compounds, including aminoadipatekynureninemethionine, and glutamate.
    • Additionally, it shows activity towards tryptophanaspartate, and hydroxykynurenine.
  2. Diseases Associated:

    • Hydroxykynureninuria: AADAT is associated with this metabolic disorder.
    • Detrusor Sphincter Dyssynergia: Although less well-established, AADAT has been implicated in this condition as well.
