AADAT
The AADAT gene encodes a protein called Aminoadipate Aminotransferase (AADAT).
-
Function:
- AADAT is a transaminase with broad substrate specificity.
- It has transaminase activity towards several compounds, including aminoadipate, kynurenine, methionine, and glutamate.
- Additionally, it shows activity towards tryptophan, aspartate, and hydroxykynurenine.
-
Diseases Associated:
- Hydroxykynureninuria: AADAT is associated with this metabolic disorder.
- Detrusor Sphincter Dyssynergia: Although less well-established, AADAT has been implicated in this condition as well.
