SNCA

The SNCA gene builds a protein called alpha-synuclein, important for brain function. Mutations in this gene are linked to Parkinson‘s disease and dementia with Lewy bodies, where abnormal clumps of alpha-synuclein form in the brain. Research on SNCA is ongoing to develop future therapies for these neurodegenerative diseases.
