GNAL

Description

The GNAL (G protein subunit alpha L) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 18.

GNAL encodes the heterotrimeric G-protein alpha subunit Golf-α, which is a member of the Gs alpha subunit family. This protein is a key component of G protein-coupled receptor-regulated adenylyl cyclase signal transduction pathways in the olfactory system and the striatum in the brain. GNAL also mediates D1 receptor signaling in the striatum and is involved in motor control.

GNAL is also known as DYT25, HG1O.
