SUOX : sulfite oxidase

Description

The SUOX (sulfite oxidase) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.

The SUOX gene provides instructions for making an enzyme called sulfite oxidase, which plays a crucial role in breaking down sulfur-containing amino acids when they are no longer needed. Specifically, sulfite oxidase is responsible for the final step in this process, converting sulfites to sulfates by adding an oxygen atom (oxidation).

SUOX is also known as -.
