STXBP2

Description

The STXBP2 (syntaxin binding protein 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 19.

Syntaxin-binding protein 2 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the STXBP2 gene.

STXBP2 plays a crucial role in intracellular vesicle trafficking and the fusion of these vesicles with cell membranes. It contributes to the process of granule exocytosis by interacting with SNARE proteins, which regulate membrane fusion. This interaction is particularly important for the regulated exocytosis of cytotoxic granules in natural killer (NK) cells.

STXBP2 is also known as FHL5, Hunc18b, MUNC18-2, UNC18-2, UNC18B, pp10122, unc-18B.
