GALNT16

Description

The GALNT16 (polypeptide N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferase 16) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 14.

GALNT16 is responsible for the first step in the creation of O-linked oligosaccharides. It attaches an N-acetyl-D-galactosamine (GalNAc) sugar to a serine or threonine amino acid on a protein.

GALNT16 is also known as GALNACT16, GALNTL1, GalNAc-T16.
