G3BP2

Description

The G3BP2 (G3BP stress granule assembly factor 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 4.

G3BP2 is an enzyme encoded by the G3BP2 gene in humans. It interacts with IκBα.

G3BP2 is a scaffold protein that plays an essential role in cytoplasmic stress granule formation, which acts as a platform for antiviral signaling. Stress granules are membraneless compartments that store mRNAs and proteins, such as stalled translation pre-initiation complexes, in response to stress. G3BP2 promotes the formation of stress granules by undergoing liquid-liquid phase separation (LLPS) upon unfolded RNA-binding, functioning as a molecular switch that triggers RNA-dependent LLPS in response to a rise in intracellular free RNA concentrations.

G3BP2 is also known as -.
