FUZ

Description

The FUZ (fuzzy planar cell polarity protein) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 19.

FUZ is a protein involved in cilium biogenesis, specifically in regulating planar cell polarity. It may also control the movement of proteins and membranes to the cilium. FUZ is thought to be a core component of the CPLANE complex, which helps recruit IFT-A proteins to the basal bodies. Additionally, FUZ may play a role in hair follicle development, which is dependent on functional primary cilia.

FUZ is also known as CPLANE3, FY, NTD.
