FRK

Description

The FRK (fyn related Src family tyrosine kinase) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 6.

FRK may refer to the human gene FRK, which encodes a tyrosine kinase protein involved in regulating cell growth and tumor suppression.

FRK is a non-receptor tyrosine kinase that inhibits cell growth. It promotes the stability of PTEN, a tumor suppressor protein, by adding a phosphate group to its Tyr-336 residue. This phosphorylation event hinders PTEN from being tagged for destruction by ubiquitination and ultimately prevents its degradation, possibly by weakening its interaction with NEDD4. FRK may act as a tumor suppressor.

FRK is also known as GTK, PTK5, RAK.
