FNTB

Description

The FNTB (farnesyltransferase, CAAX box, subunit beta) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 14.

Protein farnesyltransferase subunit beta is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the FNTB gene.

FNTB is an essential subunit of the farnesyltransferase complex. It catalyzes the transfer of a farnesyl moiety from farnesyl diphosphate to a cysteine at the fourth position from the C-terminus of several proteins that have the C-terminal sequence Cys-aliphatic-aliphatic-X.

FNTB is also known as FPTB.
