FNDC4

Description

The FNDC4 (fibronectin type III domain containing 4) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2.

FNDC4 acts as an anti-inflammatory factor in the intestine and colon. It interacts with macrophages and reduces the expression of pro-inflammatory genes. This impacts crucial macrophage functions like phagocytosis by downregulating pathways involved in macrophage activation. This regulation is partially mediated by the activation and signaling of STAT3. FNDC4 might play a role in controlling the immune response during colitis.

FNDC4 is also known as FRCP1.
