FKBP3

Description

The FKBP3 (FKBP prolyl isomerase 3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 14.

FKBP3, also known as FKBP25, is a protein encoded by the FKBP3 gene. It belongs to the immunophilin family, which are involved in immune regulation and fundamental cellular processes related to protein folding and trafficking. FKBP3 acts as a cis-trans prolyl isomerase, binding to the immunosuppressants FK506 and rapamycin. Its affinity for rapamycin is higher than for FK506, suggesting a significant role in rapamycin-mediated immunosuppression. FKBP3 interacts with various molecules, including YY1, HDAC1, Histone deacetylase 2, DNA, and Mdm2. Both the crystal structure of FKBP25 with FK506 and the NMR structure of the full-length FKBP25 have been published (PDB IDs: 5D75 and 2MPH respectively).

FKBP3 is also known as FKBP-25, FKBP-3, FKBP25, PPIase.
