FHDC1

Description

The FHDC1 (FH2 domain containing 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 4.

FHDC1 is a microtubule-associated formin that regulates both actin and microtubule dynamics. It induces microtubule acetylation and stabilization, and promotes the formation of actin stress fibers (PubMed:18815276). FHDC1 also regulates Golgi ribbon formation (PubMed:26564798) and is required for normal cilia assembly. During early cilia assembly, FHDC1 may assist in the maturation and positioning of the centrosome/basal body, and once cilia assembly has initiated, it may promote cilia elongation by inhibiting disassembly (PubMed:29742020).

FHDC1 is also known as INF1.
