FGF16

Description

The FGF16 (fibroblast growth factor 16) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome X.

Fibroblast growth factor 16 is a protein encoded by the FGF16 gene in humans. It belongs to the fibroblast growth factor (FGF) family, known for their diverse roles in cell growth, development, and repair. FGF16, specifically, is vital for embryonic brown adipose tissue proliferation. Mutations in the FGF16 gene are linked to X-linked recessive metacarpal 4/5 fusion.

FGF16 is also known as FGF-16, MF4.
