FBXO22

Description

The FBXO22 (F-box protein 22) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 15.

FBXO22 acts as a substrate-recognition component within the SCF (SKP1-CUL1-F-box protein) E3 ubiquitin ligase complex. This complex facilitates the degradation of key sarcomeric proteins, specifically alpha-actinin (ACTN2) and filamin-C (FLNC), through the proteasome pathway. These proteins are crucial for maintaining normal muscle contraction function.

FBXO22 is also known as FBX22, FISTC1.
