FAIM2

Description

The FAIM2 (Fas apoptotic inhibitory molecule 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.

FAIM2 is an anti-apoptotic protein that specifically safeguards cells against Fas-induced apoptosis. It regulates Fas-mediated apoptosis in neurons by preventing caspase-8 activation. FAIM2 may contribute to cerebellar development by influencing cerebellar size, the thickness of the internal granular layer (IGL), and the development of Purkinje cells (PCs).

FAIM2 is also known as LFG, LFG2, NGP35, NMP35, TMBIM2.
