FAF1

Description

The FAF1 (Fas associated factor 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

FAF1 is a protein that helps regulate cell death (apoptosis). It binds to the FAS antigen, which is involved in apoptosis, and can trigger or enhance apoptosis. However, FAF1 needs a specific domain to initiate apoptosis, but not the domain that binds to FAS.

FAF1 is a ubiquitin-binding protein that plays a crucial role in the progression of DNA replication forks by targeting CDT1 for degradation. It can enhance FAS-induced apoptosis but cannot initiate it on its own.

FAF1 is also known as CGI-03, HFAF1s, UBXD12, UBXN3A, hFAF1.
